Running with October Run

My goal was to have OCTOBER RUN published in … you guessed it… October 2009. The printer is prepping the files for Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com so OCTOBER RUN will be available in a couple of weeks. Watch for the exact launch.

It’s been a journey to get to this point. After years of writing, doing the traditional agent rounds, I have gone with an “indie” launch. Agents loved my writing. Compliments flew, but the manuscript was not picked up. My first book will be a POD (print on demand) edition, meaning that there is no fluff and industry hype. Readers want it, they buy it. I really hope many of you want it. More than my family and friends who have been with me on this journey. More than friends of friends. Help spread the word: OCTOBER RUN is on your bestseller list. And Join Me for an online party when we hit the first 1,000 sold!

An indie launch is much like indie films or music. Think Sundance. Think of music and other books that might never have seen the light of day. “Still Alice,” now 20+ weeks on the NYTimes bestseller list and available around the globe, started as a POD when author Lisa Genova decided to run with it. “Alice” was eventually picked up by Simon & Schuster and has sold more than 500,000 copies around the world.
